April 1990: First Fellow arrived in New York from Armenia to partake in three-month medical fellowship.
1991: First shipments of clothes, bedding, shoes, and toys to Armenia and Karabagh airlifted by UAF.
January 1992: First food shipment sent to Armenia via Turkey.
1992: First housing project - the St. Vartan American-Armenian Village in Stepanavan - completed and opened to the public.
1992: First Armenia office - in Yerevan - is opened.
1993: First grant ($25,000 to purchase potatoes for orphans) awarded by Save the Children.
1994: First national circulation of the new Armenian currency (dram) aided by FAR's sale of discounted food payable only with the dram.
1996: First branch office - in Gyumri - is opened.
June 1996: First international medical conference held in independent Armenia.
June 1996: First FAR Young Professionals Trip took 21 Diasporans to Armenia.
December 1997: First Karabagh office - in Stepanakert - is opened.
September 1997: First reconstructed school - named after Catholicos Vasken I - is officially reopened.
February 2000: First children's safe haven in Armenia (and in the former Soviet Union) opened.
October 2002: First signing of a major U.S. government agency contract for Karabagh (which is not a recognized country) in USAID's history.
