Through providing a combination of short-term relief and long-term programs, FAR aims to help various groups in Armenia. We attempt to address most issues that are brought to our attention, and we do not target a specific demographic. However, many of our beneficiaries are families with children, children without families, the elderly, and those seeking education.
FAR’s programs are as diverse as the needs of Armenia. Generally, programs focus on child protection, economic development, education, health care, and social services. Within these broad categories, some specific examples of FAR-supported programs are the Homeless Children’s Center, the Gyumri Information Technology Center, FAR’s educational scholarship programs, and FAR’s continuing Medical Education Program. Please learn about these and other programs by clicking on the tabs above.
FAR provides aid to communities in Armenia, Nagorno-Karabagh, and Javakh.
FAR is headquartered in New York City, but its largest office is in Yerevan, Armenia. FAR also has an office in Nagorno Karabahk. 95% of FAR employees are Armenian citizens.
Over 180 people work in our offices in Armenia, Nagorno Karabahk, and New York.
IN 2008, FAR’s contributions and pledges receivables totaled roughly $1 million. All contributions are directly applied to FAR’s programs, and only 13.5% of FAR’s total revenue is used for overhead and fundraising expenses. More financial details can be found in our annual report, which is posted on this website.

While FAR always benefits from a gift, giving to FAR can be beneficial to the donor as well. By considering the many different ways to make a gift to FAR, a donor can select a gift vehicle that best suits his or her needs and interests. Often, by learning about and then choosing one of the gift options that follow, a donor is able to make a more substantial gift while gaining significant tax and estate planning benefits.
