Operated by FAR since 2002, this home provides direct care for poverty-stricken residents and services homebound seniors in the area. VOAH is also an outlet for volunteers, including doctors and students who spend time at the home, building relationships with residents and supporting them.
FAR operates six soup kitchens throughout Armenia, including the Nishan & Margrit Atinizian Senior Center in Gyumri. Each year, 1,000 seniors receive one daily hot and nutritious meal thanks to FAR. Soup kitchens also offer more than just a place to eat. FAR is developing them into full-service senior centers, where elderly Armenians can socialize, access medical care, and receive help from social workers.
