Ayo!‘s Latest Campaign to Help Underserved Children Access Eye Care

Updated: Jul 16, 2020

Ayo! has launched another great project. Forged in partnership with the Armenian EyeCare Project (AECP), Vis[Ability] will help bring eye care to kindergarten-aged children in some of Armenia’s most underserved communities.

Left untreated, eye problems and diseases can seriously affect a child’s development, including their ability to excel at school and to become active members of society. Children in underserved communities are at even higher risk of being undiagnosed and untreated for any vision issues, which may lead to sight loss due to issues like amblyopia. Unfortunately, ophthalmologists are not available in many communities.

AECP, Ayo!’s partner for the project, has been working in communities throughout Armenia for more than 25 years.

If fully funded, this project will provide eye-screening exams to 11,000 children. About 700 vouchers will be distributed to those in need of follow up care and basic treatment. In addition, Vis[Ability] will provide 160 eyeglasses to those with refractive errors.

This project has the potential to have enormous impact on children’s vision and ultimately contribute to strengthening the next generation for the country.

Join Ayo! and give the gift of sight to the children of Armenia today.
