In February 2010, Andranik Ghukasyan joined Gyumri Information Technology Center (GTech) as project manager for the center’s new Business Development Unit (BDU). After selecting five GTech graduates to join BDU’s staff, Andranik and his team charged ahead on several great projects during 2010. And with the help of Los Angeles - based Project Manager Zarik Boghosian, an IT specialist, new opportunities are opening up for 2011. Zarik is working closely with BDU, supporting them in small projects as well as identifying possible outsourcing opportunities. We expect even larger projects to come to BDU from U.S.-based customers in the future.
In cooperation with New York - based Sarkissian Mason, BDU is working on a website for the Hovnanian School in New Jersey. The group has been working on the coding and images for the site, which is currently available for preview on GTech’s test site: http://test.gitc.am.
GTech staff also began working on the website for the Malcolm Sanders Group in 2010. Currently code has been written and the group is now focusing on logo and design, which are under review by Sanders.
FAR, in partnership with several technology companies, created GTech in 2005 with the goal of broadening the skills of young Armenians and expanding opportunities in the region. GTech also helps to bolster development by providing an incubator space for new start up IT businesses.
