FAR recently completed the review for the renewal of the “Jerair Nishanian Foundation” scholarships. Of the 46 students previously participating in the program, 42 were able to renew their contracts. One of the 4 non-renewing students will be participating in an exchange program in Greece this year. Another of the four non-renewing students comes from a single parent household and has therefore been included in the state support program. Unfortunately, the remaining two students have made insufficient academic progress.
30 applications were submitted to the FAR Yerevan Office in order to fill the four available spots. After a review of the submitted applications, FAR Educational Programs Committee members made home visits to the finalists living in Gavar or in the surrounding residences. In total, 5 students were selected to receive the scholarship: 2 students will receive full scholarship for tuition fees and 3 students will receive partial scholarship. FAR’s administration of various scholarship programs throughout Armenia is critical in supporting education initiatives in the country.
