Urgent Update: FAR's response to the forced exodus of refugees from Artsakh

We wanted to provide you with an important update regarding the unfolding crisis in Artsakh; the continued influx to Armenia of our brothers and sisters who were forcibly uprooted by an enemy who is devoid of any hint of morality or humanity. For millennia, these resilient Armenian communities have called Nagorno-Karabakh/Artsakh their home, fostering rich cultural and historical roots. However, they are now forced to find refuge; forced to abandon their ancestral homes. The anguish and suffering that has been inflicted upon them is nothing short of heartbreaking. We are witnessing an influx of forcibly displaced families seeking refuge in Armenia. The urgency of their plight cannot be overstated, and we are compelled to act to provide them with the support and assistance they so desperately need. As of this day, more than 85,000 people of Artsakh have already crossed the border to Armenia, looking for ways to restart their shattered lives. They are facing unimaginable hardships, and the need for humanitarian assistance is growing by the day. At the Fund for Armenian Relief (FAR), we are committed to standing with those who are suffering and providing the necessary support to them. Just as we have done in the past, we are mobilizing our resources to address the urgent needs of these displaced individuals and families. Our response will be twofold: we have already started providing necessities to families to enable them to cope with immediate needs: food packages, clean water, blankets and bedding, medical and hygienic supplies, and more. Our team of social workers is at the border giving comfort to the traumatized people, making sure no child is unattended. This support is crucial for their immediate survival and well-being. In the meantime, we are also mobilizing our resources for longer-term support that these families will need in the months and possibly, years, to come. Based on our previous experience supporting the Artsakh refugees after the devastating 44-day war in 2020, our longer-term response will include psychosocial support, education and livelihood programs, community building, and much more. None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our Friends like you. Your previous contributions have allowed us to blind a strong foundation of trust and efficiency, enabling us to respond swiftly to a crisis such as this one. As the situation continues to evolve, we anticipate that the need for assistance will persist. We are deeply committed to this cause, and your continued support is essential in our mission.
