Valerik and Venera Hayrapetyan and their eight children fled Artsakh after the recent war. While they were safe from violence, they spent months living in deplorable conditions in a dilapidated rental home with a leaky roof and no heat.
But things for them recently took a positive turn after we purchased a two-story house for the family in Armenia’s Sisian Region as part of our Support for Artsakh’s Displaced, a project aimed to help displaced Artsakh families. FAR has also funded renovations and the purchase of basics like furniture and kitchenware.
With the new house, Valerik Hayrapetyan, 44, also found a new job as a contractual officer for the military.
“We seem to have won the wheel of fortune,” said Venera, 41. “We’vestarted breeding new domestic animals; we are starting to grow crops. Life seems to be changing for the better after the devastating war.”
Safe and stable housing can dramatically change the life of a family. To support our work with Artsakh families, consider making a donation on our secure website today.
