International Social Work Conference to be Held in Armenia.

The next annual conference of the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) will held in Yerevan at the end of April 2012. IFSW is a union of social workers that aims to develop the profession based on enhancing client services and developing new regulations. The conference will be arranged by a number of international organizations, including the European Network for Social Actions , the International Council on Social Welfare, and the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) . This particular conference will focus on bolstering the field of social work in Armenia.

Doctor Mira Antonyan, executive director of the FAR Children’s Center, was instrumental in having the conference held in Yerevan. She expressed Armenia’s desire to host during IFSW’s last meeting in Brussels.

“Armenia is a post-communist country with old traditions where you can touch the roots of human history. The country is in transition and needs your support to develop and grow in the interest of welfare, wellbeing and empowerment of the clients,” said Mira during the meeting.
