A Life-Changing Opportunity

For the past six months, Dr. Garik Yeganyan, a neurologist from the Vanadzor Medical Center has been studying acute and inpatient stroke cases with FAR’s support at Erebuni Medical Center of Yerevan.

Earlier this year, we launched the Special Fellowship for Stroke Management, which is a six-month fellowship, to enable specialists to focus on this important area through trainings, research, and networking with accomplished neurologists from Armenia, the U.S., Canada, Israel, etc.

Dr. Yeganyan said the fellowship has magnificently elevated his knowledge and skills. “It’s been a long-awaited and life-changing opportunity,” he said.“When you live and work in a country where limited resources are spent on science, especially medical science, you have to find other ways to improve your knowledge, otherwise you’ll stagnate.”

Now Dr. Yeganyan is back in Vanadzor and treating patients with cerebrovascular diseases and stroke cases. He is also traveling to Stepanavan twice a week to serve local patients and those from nearby communities. He said his dream is to create a stroke unit at his hospital in Vanadzor.

Support and strengthen Armenia’s healthcare system by making a donation to FAR today.
