A new side of agriculture

In Armenia’s Sisian Region farming is a livelihood that is carried on through generations.

Our latest partnership with Armenian National Agrarian University will establish the Smart Agriculture Development Center, which will help to build the knowledge and skills of local students and farmers through training and familiarization with up-to-date technologies and facilities. The aim is for it to become a regional educational hub.

Things like a “smart” barn with hydroponic feed production spaces, ventilation, cooling, and lighting systems will better ensure the welfare of the cattle. Greenhouse construction will help grow berries for both experimental and scientific research.

“Soon it will become a competent research and development center that will help local farmers and those from Artsakh to generate good income,” said University Rector Vardan Urutyan.

“Education and economic development have always been a large part of FAR’s muti-faceted programs portfolio, particularly in more recent years. Through this partnership we’re channeling these two directions, thus supporting the establishment of a significant educational hub that will also aid in boosting economic development in the region,” said FAR Armenia Director Bagrat Sargsyan. “I’m sure that our collaboration will make successful progress through the years and open up new opportunities for farmers and entrepreneurs.”
