Armenian Students Win Gold Medal in International Astrophysics Competition

Today, we are happy to learn that Armenian schoolchildren have what it takes to compete with the strongest nations in the disciplines of Mathematics and Science. Two Armenian students recently won the top awards (gold medalist designations) in an international Astrophysics competition. Students Hayk Tepanyan and Hayk Hakobyan traveled from their native Armenia to Hanjou, China to compete in the international competition. Perhaps the most remarkable feature of their victory is that the Armenian students did not have access to a planetarium during their course of study in Armenia. Other gold medalist students hailed from countries where resources such as a planetarium were readily accessible (China, Russia, and India). Hayk Tepanyan and Hayk Hakobyan – we congratulate you and hope that you will follow in the footsteps of world-famous Armenian astrophysicist Victor Hambartsumyan.
