FAR has started work on the next series of documentary films about its programs. The first film, called From Soul’s Dreams to Reality, will focus on the Gulamerian Scholarship Program and tell the story of how it has helped hundreds of young Armenian orphans attend university for the past 12 years.
“On one hand, it was easy to write the script, as there is such rich material available on the program,” said writer Levon Lachikyan, who is also FAR’s press secretary. “But it was a unique challenge to tell the story of this scholarship, through the eyes of those who it has affected the most.”
The Film Director is Satik Stepanyan of the production company “HayFilm.” She has rich experience of cooperating with FAR. Together with Levon, the two have jointly worked on five short films, one of which, Childhood at Peril, received an award at the 2004 Moscow International Documentary Film Festival. The same year it received an invitation to be screened at the Iranian Documentary Film Festival “Varej.”

Cameraman Sargis Sargsyan is filming the production with assistance from FAR’s Educational Programs Director Eduard Karapetyan. FAR’s Gyumri Director Marina Bazayeva will do translations. The creative team has already visited Etchmiadzin, Vanadzor and Gavar to shoot the first scenes, which have been met with challenges and delight.
Some like Nvard Nazlukhanyan, a nurse at Vanadzor’s Children’s Hospital loved being a part of the film so much that it was difficult to take her off camera.
Next stop for the crew is Gyumri, then it’s back to Yerevan.

From Soul’s Dreams to Reality is set to be completed soon.
