FAR Staff Visit Mathevosian Applicants.

The application period for FAR’s Mathevosian Scholarship Program will close in the coming days. Currently, FAR has received 53 applications for the 2010-2011 program, which will assist 10 newly selected recipients who wish to attend Yerevan State University (YSU), Armenian State University of Economics (ASUE), Armenian State Engineering University (ASEU) and Armenian State Agrarian University (ASAU). As part of the selection process, FAR Educational Programs Coordinator Eduard Karapetyan, along with staff members Hasmik Manukyan, Erin Henk and former Mathevosian Scholar Veronika Mkrtchyan, made trips to the applicants’ homes to interview their families and further assess their financial need.

FAR’s Educational Programs Council will make their selections in the coming weeks. For the past 12 years, the Mathevosian Scholarship has provided much-needed assistance to students from extremely poor families who wish to study at universities around Armenia. The scholarship covers tuition for all four years of college.
