Gohar Karginyan

Gohar Karginyan has been working at the FAR Children Support Center since its inception ten years ago. She graduated from Yerevan Pedagogical College and later became a professional chef. Prior to joining the Children Center she worked in a kindergarten and other public canteens.

“As soon as I started to work at FARs Children Center, I got an opportunity to use both of my professions simultaneously” said Gohar with a smile. Certainly, her work does not stop with the cooking of delicious dishes. She uses the prepared meals to educate the children sheltered at the Center about food. Every child enjoys a very individualized approach to significantly improve their eating habits after newcomers have sometimes starved for months in a row before coming to the Center. Gohar treats every child like a mother, realizing that many of them had been deprived of parental care.

“Eating is not the most important thing, more important is how to eat,” said Gohar. The children sheltered by the Center learn the elementary basics on how to enjoy their food. With the help of Gohar everybody gets acquainted with the secrets of a great local kitchen. Moreover, the children also learn how to cook.

Naturally, it is not a coincidence that Gohar Karginyan has been awarded the title “Best employee of the Children Support Center,” not once but twice.
