This year, the truly wonderful staff from HSBC Bank Armenia CJSC have once again gone above and beyond by donating gifts like books, puzzles, coloring books, instruments, trucks, dolls and stuffed animals to 401 kindergartners in the Berd Region.
“Toy Drive,” as it’s simply known, has become an annual Christmas initiative promoted solely by HSBC Bank Armenia’s staff and managed by FAR. It is geared toward ensuring that children from the impoverished border communities of Berd receive some special surprises for the holiday season.
This year, children from the Paravakar Village School, and Berd Kindergartens #2 and #3, received gifts during a visit from Dzmer Pap (Santa Clause) and HSBC Armenia staff members.
“This year, you considered our kids’ Christmas wishes and now they have what they wanted,” said Naira Gyuzaryan, teacher at the Berd Kindergarten #3. “That doesn’t really happen in communities like these.”
“I really do believe it’s a wonderful experience to come up to Tavush Province and genuinely help children who would not otherwise have such a great Christmas. It really galvanizes our team back in Yerevan; they get very excited by Toy Drive every year and they are very generous with their contributions. It’s fantastic to see that actually come to life when you are at the kindergartens. Getting out the presents and seeing joy and happiness on their faces makes it all worthwhile,” said Paul Graham Edgar, CEO of HSBC Armenia.
Mr. Edgar also highlighted the effective and longtime cooperation with FAR, which has helped to build ties between HSBC Armenia staff and these communities. “HSBC has been in Armenia since 1996, and getting involved in initiatives like this is very tangible evidence that we are part of the community and we are in Armenia for the long-term. I really hope that we can work with FAR. One of the key reasons we like working with FAR is that it’s so professional and well-organized. And we would like to thank FAR for its professionalism and for working with us,” he said.
