Job Opening at Fund for Armenian Relief

Fund for Armenian Relief (FAR), a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization, registered in the State of New York, with its operations in child protection, social services, healthcare, education, economic opportunity development in the Republic of Armenia, is searching for a qualified bookkeeper/accountant to replace a retiring employee.


This is a key position, reporting directly to the FAR Executive Director with the following main responsibilities:

  • prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports from FAR’s USA headquarters and FAR’s Armenia Country office;

  • develop account statements, reconcile account balances;

  • process contract payables, in-kind donations, wires, accounts payable invoices, contributions, payroll;

  • conduct analysis and reconciliation of investment accounts;

  • assist in grant applications, audit preparations, and budget preparation;

  • assist the Executive Director with various accounting and bookkeeping-related matters.

The ideal candidate must be highly skilled in the accounting field and have some experience in working in the not-for-profit sector. The candidate must also be proficient in CYMA (or equivalent and relevant Accounting Software for non-profit organizations), MS Office, and Donor database software, as well as routine office work.

Fluency in English and Armenian (oral and written) is required.

This position is located in mid-town Manhattan, New York City. It is a full-time position; salary and benefits are subject to experience and qualifications. Hybrid working conditions (both in-person and virtually) are a possibility pending consideration of city ordinances and regulations.
