Ayo! has launched its Chocolate Bank Project for 2018! Since 2014, each Christmas FAR has implemented its Chocolate Bank Project in different regions of Armenia to brighten the holiday for children and their families in need. Last year, Ayo! joined this amazing initiative, which collects and then delivers chocolates and other Christmas sweets to children who live in poverty. And it is happening again!
This year the Ayo! and FAR team plans to visit daycares in 14 villages in Gegharkunik Province — some of which have some of the coldest conditions in Armenia — to bring gifts of chocolate and other sweets, and to hold a celebration for children in need. Ayo! is also raising money to provide selected daycares with new bedding, including warm blankets and pillows, which will help them through the brutal winter. While the daycares generally have appropriate conditions for the children, they have a vital and urgent need for new bedding.
Christmas chocolate will be given to 353 kids; 109 kids will benefit from new bedding.
“This year, just as any other, all of us at Ayo! and FAR expect to wake up on Christmas morning feeling happy and secure, and to share the joy of Christmas with our respective families,” said Laura Gevorgyan, Ayo! Program Director. “We would like all children to have the chance to experience that same happiness and joy, especially the ones whose families struggle each day to support them.”
Ayo! will be collecting chocolates, candies and cookies at FAR’s office in Yerevan until December 25th. Donations online will be collected until January 6th to purchase the bedding for the daycares.
