Lory Bedikian wins 2010 Levine Prize in Poetry.


Former Armenian Reporter columnist wins poetry prize.



Fresno - Former Armenian Reporter columnist Lory Bedikian has been honored with the 2010 Philip Levine Prize in Poetry for "The Book of Lamenting." The selection was made out of 800 entries.


The Levine Prize is an annual book contest sponsored by California State University, Fresno. The contest is open to all poets (except current or former students or faculty of Fresno State), offers a $2000 prize and publication and distribution by Anhinga Press, a Florida-based press that has been publishing poetry for more than 25 years.


Bedikian received her BA from UCLA with an emphasis in Creative Writing, Poetry where she was twice nominated for the Ina Coolbrith Memorial Prize in Poetry. She earned her MFA in Poetry from the University of Oregon, where she was awarded the Dan Kimble First Year Teaching Award for Poetry.
