Spotlight on GTech’s Business Development Unit — Website for the Agate Center.

Updated: Jul 31, 2023

In February 2010, Andranik Ghukasyan joined Gyumri Information Technology Center (GTech) as project manager for the center’s new Business Development Unit (BDU). After selecting five GTech graduates to join BDU’s staff, Andranik and his team charged ahead on several great projects during 2010. And with the help of Los Angeles – based Project Manager Zarik Boghosian, an IT specialist, new opportunities are opening up for 2011. Zarik is working closely with BDU, supporting them in small projects as well as identifying possible outsourcing opportunities. We expect even larger projects to come to BDU from U.S.-based customers in the future.

The BDU team recently completed the website for the Gyumri-based NGO, Agate Center. The Agate Center specifically focuses on improving the quality of life of women and young girls with special needs by protecting their human rights and strengthening their position in society. Agate’s website http://www.agatengo.com/ was a pro bono project for BDU.

FAR, in partnership with several technology companies, created GTech in 2005 with the goal of broadening the skills of young Armenians and expanding opportunities in the region. GTech also helps to bolster development by providing an incubator space for new start up IT businesses.

BDU Team Members: Project Manager Andranik Ghukasyan; Team Leader, Programmer and Developer Kristine Gyulbekyan; Programmer and Developer Levon Harutyunyan; Programmer and Developer Karen Achemyan; Programmer and Web Designer Nelli Poghosyan; Database Specialist Aram Harutyunyan
