TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. In the same spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. TEDxYerevan was born because of the desire of a group of TED devotees who had already spent months translating TED talks into Armenian. Beyond Borders was chosen as the subject umbrella under which talks were invited.

At the conclusion of the program, as Salpi Ghazarian, director of the Civilitas Foundation, and TEDxYerevan moderator said, "If TED didn't exist, Armenians should have invented it. TED enables what we've been doing for centuries. Bringing good ideas in and sharing our good ideas with the world."
