With help from a FAR scholarship, Gari Akhoyan, 36, was able to get a degree in accounting and finance from the Armenian State University of Economics. With that degree, he started his own accounting firm, which has created 50 jobs in Armenia.
He didn’t stop there. Gari’s car servicing center and brokerage firm give work to 16 additional employees.
Without his Anush Mathevosian Scholarship, Gari said he wouldn’t have been able to afford school, would have probably gone into the military, and never ultimately pursued a higher degree.
He’s an ideal example of how FAR’s scholarships and educational opportunities help Armenians make a difference in their own lives and that of their peers.
