Meet Yuri from Tavush—a bright, ambitious student and newly minted podcaster who’s charting his own course in public policy and international relations. This has been his dream since childhood, and thanks to FAR’s Armine and Garabed Zambak Scholarship, that dream is becoming a reality.
For as long as he can remember, Yuri has been drawn to the world of politics—always asking big questions, digging deeper into domestic and international developments, and analyzing events through a critical lens.
“As a teenager, I was constantly trying to understand political shifts. I realized I had a real passion for it—one that most of my peers didn’t share,” says 25-year-old Yuri Movsesyan, now in his second year of a Master’s program in Public Policy at Yerevan State University.

With the financial burden lifted, Yuri was able to fully commit to his studies and pursue enriching opportunities that might’ve otherwise been out of reach. “If it weren’t for the scholarship, I probably would’ve had to take a job completely unrelated to my field just to cover expenses. That would’ve taken time away from my studies and slowed my growth. When someone invests in your future, you feel a responsibility to make the most of it. It pushes you to grow, to give your best,” he says.
Outside the classroom, Yuri co-hosts a podcast on Aliq Media, offering fresh takes on socio-political issues in Armenia, and also works with the Restart Civic-Youth Foundation, where he helps equip young people with critical skills like media and financial literacy, and organizes internships across public and private sectors.
“Young people have a huge role to play. We bring creativity, fresh thinking, and a willingness to challenge the status quo. If we’re given the right tools, we can find new ways to solve old problems.”
Since its founding in 2009, the Armine and Garabed Zambak Scholarship Program has empowered 63 students like Yuri to pursue their Master’s degrees and their passions.
