Recently, 2,500 middle and high school students from 60 schools across the Berd, Ijevan, Noyemberyan, and Sisian regions gathered for the highly anticipated second annual Olympiad, a monumental event that brought together young minds eager to showcase their talents in chemistry, physics, and biology.
FAR’s Education and Science Programs Director, Eduard Karapetyan, notes the significant increase in student participation and enthusiasm compared to last year. “These Olympiads offer a unique platform for students to think critically, express their ideas freely, and engage in meaningful analysis. This year’s format, which encouraged students to analyze real-world scenarios and propose solutions, will have a lasting impact on their professional aspirations.”
Over the course of three action-packed days in each region, students participated in dynamic Q&A sessions and intense ‘play-off’ rounds. These activities not only sparked friendly competition but also nurtured a culture of continuous learning, self-reflection, and mutual respect. As students from diverse schools exchanged ideas, they formed new friendships and deepened their passion for knowledge. The event culminated in a moment of triumph, as the victorious teams were announced, greeted by applause from their peers and mentors.
At the conclusion of the three-day event, 333 students who secured the top three places in their subjects were awarded certificates and encyclopedias in recognition of their achievements. The top achiever high school students will be invited to join Summer STEM camps, to be organized by FAR in 2025 in partnership with the Strong Mind NGO. Our Summer Camps are sponsored by FAR benefactors-the Yeramyan Family Fund and Harold and Josephine Gulamerian Foundation.
In addition to the students' awards, the teachers of the winning teams were honored with symbolic wall clocks to celebrate their dedication to nurturing the next generation of scientific talent.
