Medals don’t drive 15-year-old Armenuhi Aslanyan-her passion for STEM does. Still, returning to Berdavan with a first-place chemistry medal this spring brought a spark of excitement to her school and community.
The win and the medal following Olympiad held in spring, brought Armenuhi to Yerevan to join her peers in a science camp organized jointly with the “Hzor Mitk” (Strong Mind) NGO thanks to the generous support of the Yeramyan Family Foundation.
For a full week, the STEM campers stayed at the Student’s House in Yerevan, immersed in a transformative experience that combined advanced science learning, innovation, and community. They explored top scientific institutions like the Institute of Fine Organic Chemistry, Armbiotechnology Scientific and Production Center, and the Byurakan Observatory. They also toured Engineering City, interacted with leading tech startups, and participated in hands-on workshops in modeling and flight assembly.
For Armenuhi, opportunities like this are not just inspiring; they are essential. She believes that for students who love chemistry, physics, math, and, experiences like the camp help them deepen their curiosity, test their knowledge, and understand where their ambitions can lead. Now in the 10th grade, she already knows where her path is heading.

“Chemistry is very interesting to me. Natural sciences allow you to know and understand yourself and the world around you. Last year, we didn’t know the methods of the Olympiads and struggled to work together,” Armenuhi recalls. “This year, having gained both knowledge and unity, our school team managed to win. I know where I still need to grow, and I’m ready to improve.”
